The Coburger Fuchsschaf sheep is a breed of domestic sheep from Germany. It is also known as Coburg Fox Sheep and it is easily characterized by it’s reddish brown to golden color.
And these coloration is most pronounced at birth, but remains at the head and the legs in the adult.
The breed was abundant from the nineteenth century to the early twentieth century. But it was nearly extinct after Second World War.
Currently, the Coburger Fuchsschaf sheep flocks are mostly employed for landscape preservation.
There were only two registered animals of this breed were available in the early 1980s. And there were 34 breeders, over 50 breeding rams and over 1200 breeding ewes available by 1993.

The Coburger Fuchsschaf sheep are large animals. They are easily characterized by their reddish brown to golden color.
Their head is red and many animals also have a dorsal stripe. Their head and legs are free of wool, and their ears are broad and long. Both rams and ewes are generally polled.
Average body height of the mature rams is about 80 cm at the withers, and around 70 cm for the ewes.
