The Cholistani sheep is a breed of domestic sheep which was originated from Pakistan. It is mainly found in parts of the districts of Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan and Cholistan tract in Punjab Province.
It is good for both wool and meat production. But raised mainly for meat production in it’s native area.
Total population of the Cholistani sheep breed decreased from 1986 to 1996. And total population decreased from 275,964 to 33,025 respectively.

Cholistani Sheep Characteristics
The Cholistani sheep are medium sized animals. They are mainly white in body coloration with a black to brown head and ears. Their ears are small and stubby and have a long tail.
Average body height of the mature rams is around 75 cm at the withers, and around 66 cm for the ewes.
Average live body weight of the mature Cholistani rams is around 48.5 kg. And the mature ewe’s average live body weight is around 34 kg. Photo and info from Wikipedia.
Uses
The Cholistani sheep is raised mainly for meat production in it’s native area. But it is also pretty good for wool production.

They are also pretty good for milk production and produce enough milk for their lambs. The ewes on average produce around 45 kg of milk on an average lactation cycle of 110 days.
